Does the Patriot Act take away basic human rights?
What effects does it have on foreigners?
What problems does the patriot act take away?
What problems does it create?
Who had a say in the passing of the act?
How long did it take to pass?
What evidence makes it unconstitutional?

Casey, You might be able to narrow your search topic by specifying what rights you feel and being taken away by the Patriot Act. Are you focusing on free speech or privacy, for example.

Casey,
ReplyDeleteI like Michael's suggestion above of maybe narrowing it down to a specific set of rights, or perhaps a certain section of the bill? I think it might be interesting (but possibly too off the topic of your paper?) to find out the original support for the bill and the current feelings towards it, both by the lawmakers and by the general public.
Also, you use the words 'basic human rights', but those have extremely different meanings depending on where you are! Maybe you want to specify the rights as constitutionally granted rights of the U.S. or based on the UN code of human rights or something similar?
Very cool topic!
