RJA #15: Reflection

I learned a lot about research projects in this class. I thought this class was great to help teach students how to develop a strong research topic, and to write a very detailed paper on it. I also learned a lot about my topic, I had not know much about the PATRIOT Act until I found out the facts that backed it up. I also learned a lot of interesting facts on how the PATRIOT Act effected people in a way that it was not meant to. The research and writing process of the class will definitely help me to use research in my future papers, and to cite sources correctly. All in all, this class was great learning experience, and taught em a lot about writing as a whole.

RJA #14a: Application Project Progress Report

I have decided to create a editorial for my application project. It will be questioning the constitutionality of the PATRIOT Act, and arguing it to be unconstitutional. My editorial will be bringing up several arguments on why the PATRIOT Act unconstitutional. I will bring up many points on why it is wrong. The editorial will work well for my application project.

I have not yet started on my application project. I have developed my idea, but have not fully thought of the detail. I will soon create a outline to help me get a solid idea, to write my paper. I will start my paper soon, after my outline is developed.

I still need to do everything involving my paper. I still need to create my outline, and find my sources. I also still need to write the essey as a whole. i will continue developing my outline to fully create my paper. So i still have a lot to do, and need to start very soon.

RJA #13b: Application Project Plan

My idea for my project is to create a journal about a individual that was effected by the PATRIOT Act. I would tell a story of the individual, and how the Act has effected them specifically, and how it has invaded there rights. Ir will be a journal entry after 9/11 of a Muslim man and the encounters he faces for being a suspected terrorist.

RJA #12b: Field Research Report

For my field research i chose to interview a teacher on there opinions on the Constitutionality of the PATRIOT Act. My goal was to figure out what the Criminal Justice major thought about the PATRIOT Act. I started of by asking how they felt about the PATRIOT Act being passed, and the way it was passed. There opinion included that they thought that generally the PATRIOT Act was put in place to protect, but it was not done correctly. He stated that the fact was that not many people got to review that PATRIOT Act before it was passed, and never got to get a say in what happen with it. I then asked how he felt about the PATRIOT Acts effect on the law and how it has effected the Criminal Justice System. He stated that is has changed how it basic law enforcement has operated. And that it has given them to much power, to much power to obtain information, and how they obtain it. In his interview it was very evident, that he believed that PATRIOT Act gave the law, and law enforcement to much power, and changed how they operated.
